Abstract The Claudius Y. Gates papers (1947-1996) consists primarily of correspondence documenting the long relationship between the University of Utah and Gates, a major donor to the libraries of the University of Utah and the University of Utah Medical Center. Gates donated many fine press items, as well as the Columbian Hand Press, to the Marriott Library. The correspondence and appraisals are primarily focused on these donations.
