Abstract The David M. Walden papers (1872-2000) contain materials collected by Walden while researching the history of St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City. St. Mark's, the first hospital in Utah, was established in 1872 by members of the Episcopalian Church, mainly as a response to the health needs of miners flourishing in the area. Included in the collection are meeting materials, correspondence, newsletters, notes, news articles, publication excerpts, and other items.

Abstract David M. Walden (1947-2010) was a historian and educator who authored, edited, and cowrote numerous individual and organizational histories. This collection contains material gathered by Walden during research into the medical history of Utah, as well as photographs documenting Walden's time living in Guam in the 1970s during and after his service in the United States Navy.
