Todd I. Berens papers
The Todd I. Berens papers (1849-1970) consist of materials resulting from Berens' research of historical trails of early Western settlers, with emphasis on Jedediah Smith and Charles Fremont, as well as the Gold Rush of 1849. Included are letters from Dale Morgan, a biography of Arthur Shearer, and an excerpt from the Hannibal Journal. Todd Berens was a high school history teacher who specialized in historical research.

The Juanita Brooks papers (1941-1993) is comprised mainly of photocopied letters from Dale Morgan to Juanita Brooks concerning her book, Mountain Meadows Massacre, published in 1950. Also included are some short stories, letters concerning John D. Lee, and an oral history transcript.

The Charles I. Wheat papers (1937-1958) contain thirteen letters from Dale Morgan to Carl Wheat concerning research in Western history. Also included are transcripts of articles from various Illinois and Iowa newspapers and a proposal for a book by Wheat titled, First Visible Footsteps of the White Man in Death Valley.
