Scope and Contents

From the Series: The correspondence files of Leroy J. Robertson date from 1922-1971 and are arranged alphabetically. Personal correspondence includes letters from musicians, students, friends, family, and the presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Letters of congratulation and tributes for his success as a musician, particulary in regard to his prize-winning "Trilogy" and the "Oratorio from the Book of Mormon," comprise a major portion of this correspondence. In addition, correspondence with various publishers in included in this file. Other corerspondence is filed with related subjects in boxes 24-34. For example, box 25 contains correspondence directly related to the award for "Trilogy" and the commissioning and premiers of "Saguaro" and "Passacaglia," in addition to other material on these subjects. Box 26 is concerned with the General Music Committee of the LDS Church, box 31 with the Utah State Institute of Fine Arts, and box 34 with the Leichtentritt collection.
