Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Sydney W. and Mildred B. Angleman papers contain original manuscripts from Sydney B. Angleman (1902-1971), his wife, Mildred B. Angleman (1897-1981), and his mother, Erene E. Angleman (1876-1867). Dr. Angleman was a professor of general education at the University of Utah from 1939 to 1970. The collection contains his university correspondence, as well as lectures, speeches, fiction, and poetry. It also contains poetry, short stories, and correspondence from Mildred B. Angleman. Erene E. Angleman, Sydney's mother, was an accomplished poet, and many of her poems are in the collection. Also included is an original manuscript of "The Constable of St. Nicholas," by Edwin Lester Arnold, and a manuscript of Sydney B. Angleman's dissertation, "The Study of Matthew Arnold's Poetry." The collection also contains Sydney and Mildred's son, Winfield S. Angleman's school and personal papers.
