Shumway spoke with Suzanne Simon in Anaheim, California. Subjects: His father's start in Uranium mining, the Dream mine, selling early claims, restaking and later claims, other claimants in Cottonwood, class structure in Blanding, his grandfather and great-grandfather, prospecting at age three, the Hideout mine, the Redd family, prospecting before geiger counters, Elk Mountain, mining and assessment work, camp and lizards, the mill, driller's helper at age sixteen, lifestyle at the camp, swimming, girls and parties, supplies, gambling, transportation, medical emergencies, problems with VCA, Fennel Sitton, a lawsuit, oxidized uranium ore, King Edwards mine, King James mine, old equipment and a mishap, the end of his mining (120 pages).
