 File — Box: 13

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Stanley Buchholz Kimball papers (1844-2003) contain mission diaries, correspondence, maps, two year books, and papers written or edited by Stanley Kimball (1926-2003). Many of these papers reflect Kimball's interest in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), as well has his interest in Eastern European history. The majority of this collection contains correspondence. Some of the correspondence are formal and business oriented letters concerning assignments and history information. Other letters are on more personal topics; for example letters to his granddaughter offering her encouragement and advice; letters on his struggle with cancer; and even a letter addressed to William Shatner, scolding him for his "potty mouth." There are also newspaper clippings featuring Kimball and various LDS Church events. Also included are several flyers and pamphlets for various associations with which Kimball was involved such as the Mormon History Association, John Whitmer Historical Association, and the Santa Fe Trail Association. Paper summaries, poems, and a few formal and informal papers, such as Kimball's "The LDS, RLDS, and Me" are also included. There are two year books, including pictures and signatures, from Davis High School; one from 1920 and the other from 1923.
