The Kirk Alan Watson papers (1833-2004) contain documents, articles, and correspondence pertaining to Watson's research into the fundamentalist break offs from of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), beginning with early 1900s schisms such as the Eastmanites and moving through the formation of the "Woolley Group" that became the basis for LDS Fundamentalism, notorious for practicing polygamy. The collection includes a selection of essays on the sociology of heresy, schism, and sect formation, then proceeds to the application of such to LDS historical episodes, as well as the reaction of the LDS Church to Fundamentalism.
