Scope and Contents
The Growers' Market Company records (1911-1998) contain the business files of Growers' Market Company, a corporation which organized farmer's markets in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded in 1919, the company purchased land in downtown Salt Lake City in order to provide a centralized location for produce buyers and sellers. The company later built warehouses and leased space to produce distributors and other businesses, including the Salt Lake Hilton hotel. The company changed its name to GMX Corporation in 1993.
