Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Don L. Lind papers center around Lind's experimental work with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), but also include professional correspondence and personal materials. The collection contains information regarding the Interstellar Gas Experiment (IGE, 1984-1990), in which Lind was involved while a professor at Utah State University. These materials are divided into two parts, IGE and IGE-II (the proposed second mission of the Interstellar Gas Experiment), and include background information, experiment data and recordings, correspondence, proposals, papers and subject files. The collection also contains records of the Solar Wind (1967-1970) and Space Lab-III (Auroral Observations, 1983-1987) experiments that Lind was involved with, including proposals, correspondence, data sheets, graphs and experimental requirements. Lind holds the rank of Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve and received the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 1974.
