Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Utah Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children Records includes materials such as minutes from the Executive Committee, the Board of Governors, the Delegate Assembly, and general federation meetings. Also included are organizational guidelines, constitution and by-laws, reports, financial materials, national and state directories, newsletters, convention materials (national, regional, and state), publications, correspondence, and chapter and division materials.

The correspondence is by far the most informative material in the collection. It reflects the growth and general direction the organization has taken over the years. While the minutes in the collection provide some information as to the major concerns of the organization, the incompleteness of these records hinders their effectiveness.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) division files in the collection contain mostly materials from the sectional meetings of the Utah Education Association Convention in 1966. Very few of the files contain more in-depth information about the divisions themselves. Local chapter materials are limited as well and provide little information on chapter activities. The last few boxes in the collection concentrate on the Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders (CCBD).
