Scope and Contents

From the Series: The correspondence section covers a vast spectrum of Abravanel's life, both personally and with regard to his professional involvement with the Utah Symphony and other institutions. The letters have been sorted into two sections, personal and professional, and have been arranged chronologically to better follow the progression of Abravanel's career. Personal correspondence is primarily between Lucy, her first husband Albert Carasso, their children, and immediate relatives. There are a few letters to Maurice from various people, including his first wife, Friedel. The professional correspondence pertains to Maurice, his career, and his involvement with the Utah Symphony. Letters regarding concert engagements, letters from agents, prominent musicians, heads of orchestras, and fan mail can be found in this portion of the collection.
