Scope and Contents

From the Series: This section, boxes 108 through 112, offers information regarding projects and proposals of the SCA. Materials of the Police and Prison Communication Project done in 1972 by the SCA are located in box 108 and include articles, correspondence, grant applications, notes, project objectives, proposal applications, and working drafts of the project proposal. The Police and Prison Communication Project was conducted to "develop and disseminate nationally a training program in human communication for law enforcement officers." Information on "Inter-Com '75 and '76," a project done by the SCA with the Canadian Speech Association can be found in box 109. This project was done to "give educators from Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States opportunities to exchange views and formulate recommendations in response to the question, 'What can teachers and researchers do to help insure that the young will acquire the communication competencies needed to function in a rapidly changing world?'" Materials include contacts with the CSA, project abstract, mailings, fund raising, papers, proposals, and studies. Materials from smaller projects of the SCA, including a minimal competencies project, a salary project, a theater project, and a basic communication curriculum proposal, are located in boxes 110 to 112. The materials are dated 1975 to 1993, and are arranged in alphabetical order. General project fund requests for 1991 are located in folders 1 through 3 of box 110.
