Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
The Blake T. Ostler articles (1980-1990), some of which were published in Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, discuss the LDS Church, and theological and philosophical concepts. "Incoherence of Creatio Ex Nihilo" discusses creation and examines various states of existence. "The Throne-Theophany and Prophetic Commission in 1 Nephi" compares 1 Nephi in the Book of Mormon to the Old Testament and to the nineteenth century vision of God. The third article, "The Mormon Concept of God," explores the argument between the finitist and absolutist concepts of God. The fourth article, "The Prince of Peace," discusses Jewish-Roman conflicts at the time of Christ. "The Idea of Pre-existence in the Development of Mormon Thought" discusses the LDS concept of God as the creator and man as creature. The final article, "The Hope for Zion," addresses the belief that Zion would be a communitarian utopia with a new world government, and that would be the kingdom of God on earth. Ostler is an attorney in Salt Lake City.
