The Peter DeLafosse papers (1907-1999) consists of correspondence, manuscripts, diary entries, articles, biographical materials, and collection registers pertaining to the life of Charles Kelly (1889-1971). Kelly, a historian of the American west, was an author of a book on trails in the western salt desert in Utah and Nevada, and wrote biographies of Porter Rockwell, Caleb Greenwood, and Miles Goodyear. He was an employee of the National Park Service and was the first superintendent of Capitol Reef National Park in southern Utah. In 1969 the American Association of State and Local History granted him an Award of Merit.
