 File — Box: 3

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Salt Lake County probate records (1903-1920) contain seven leather-bound volumes comprising about 3900 pages of handwritten text. None of the volumes are numbered, however they may be distinguished by the name of the first entry in each. Six volumes contain records regarding estate administration of deceased persons. Three of these volumes are narratives, made up in large part of inventories, appraisements and final distributions (the Ellen Reading Allington, Franz Jungk, and William G. Hassard volumes). The other three volumes are made up of pre-printed forms. The Robert J. Johnson volume contains records regarding probate of wills, while the Charles L. Erickson and France A. Elg volumes contain records concerning letters of administration. The remaining volume contains records regarding the guardianship of minors (the Paul & Ralph Nelden volume). The Allington volume contains estate records for Lorenzo Snow, Jr., grandson to the fifth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the same name (pages 198-201), Heber S. Sanders (pages 323-328, 481-485) and Henry P. Lytle (pages 408-413, 529-536). The Jungk volume contains estate records for John R. Winder, first counselor to the sixth president of the church, Joseph F. Smith. The Erickson volume contains estate records for Orrin Porter Rockwell, bodyguard to the first president, Joseph Smith (pages 122-123).
