Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Wilby Durham papers (1949-1962) contain correspondence, news clippings, photographs, ski race forms and organization documents relating to the formation of the Utah Ski Associates. In addition to founding the Deseret News Ski School, Wilby Durham (b. 1913) helped found and served as executive secretary for the Utah Ski Associates which was formed in 1962 to help make Utah the "ski capital of the world" as well as to prepare the Utah ski community for future Olympic Winter Game bids. Also included in this collection is information concerning events sponsored by both the Intermountain Ski Association (ISA) and the Salt Lake Ski Club, of which Wilby Durham was an officer.
