 File — Box: 2

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The William Spencer papers (1960-2000) document both Mr. Spencer's own pursuits as a top University of Utah and United States skier and Olympic biathlete, and the development of biathlon as a sport in the US and in the Olympics. Included in the collection is a personal scrapbook of news clippings and memorabilia documenting Mr. Spencer's activities as a biathlete, skier and cyclist; a copy of a newsletter produced by the 76th Army Division with a feature article on biathlon and Mr. Spencer; and a copy of former Olympic Team Coach Arthur Stegen's book, Biathlon. The scrapbook also contains many references to other well-known skiers and athletes, and profiles several competitions in biathlon, Nordic skiing, Alpine skiing, ski jumping, and cycling. Two additional news clippings regarding Alta ski area's 50th year celebration, and Mr. Spencer's induction into the Biathlon Hall of Fame are included with the collection.
