Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
The Park City Mountain Resort records (1942-2002) contain correspondence, snow reports, accounting information, inspection reports, brochures, photography records, world cup records, memorabilia, magazines, news clippings, race materials, and engineering documents and drawings. The correspondence contains writings between the resort and the community. Snow reports include snow depth as well as open trails for the Park City Resort, in addition, the contracts for various businesses to receive faxed snow reports are also contained. The Ski Utah Reports contain snow depths for ski resorts in the entire state. Race Materials include publications and race results. Engineering Documents contain proposals, contracts, technical drawings, and manuals about Park City chair lifts. Of particular interest are the Craig Badami and Silver King folders. Craig Badami (1952-1989) was quite influential in the skiing world. Badami was vice president of the Park City Resort and leader of many ski organizations. Because of his dedication Utah hosted the World Cup, at which event he died in a helicopter accident. The Silver King, or Mid-Mountain lodge, was moved 4,245 feet in 1987. This move was submitted to the Guinness World Book of Records. Clippings about the move and correspondence between the city and others.
