 File — Box: 9, Volume: 1

Scope and Contents

Inside this scrapbook are children's stories that have been clipped out of newspapers in the 1910s and 1920s. The first half of the book are from a column titled "Chubby Bear." Each story follows the adventures of Chubby Bear. Titles include "Chubby Bear Goes A-Maying," "Chubby Bear in the Cavern," and "Chubby Bear's Grandpa." The stories are written by Lena B. Ellingwood and are accompanied by drawings by Harrison Cady. In the book are also another series of stories by Ellingwood, titled "The Doings of the Dapperlings" that were printed in Comfort magazine. The rest of the children's stories are by various authors such as Georgene Faulkner and Anna C. Chamberlain. Also included is the front page of Child Life magazine from 1943.
