Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Milton Holmes Welling papers contains three boxes of diaries and correspondence on the life and works of Milton Welling, the Utah Representative who lived in Box Elder County. Box 1 contains correspondence written during Milton's government tenure. Box 2 contains work related files other than correspondence. Box 3 contain letter Milton wrote on his LDS mission to Tennessee. Box 3 alos contains two letters of significance. One, from LDS President Heber J. Grant, and the other a letter from the noted lawyer, and 1924 presidential candidate, John W. Davis. The substance the Biography of Milton H. Welling was written by Doris F. Salmon.

Originally the collection was titled the John Wesley Horsley papers, named for a relative of the donors. It was changed to Milton Holmes Welling (father-in-law of John W. Horsley) because of a content of the material.
