Scope and Contents
Box 15, folders 5-21 through box 16, folders 1-4 are Ballet West's records of the time they spent in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado. Beginning in 1970 Ballet West spent their summer season in Aspen where they performed in the evenings and during the day taught young students in their summer ballet "camp." The following folders contain arrangements, year by year, for the summer sessions.
Box 19, folders 21-25 through boxes 20 and 21, folders 1-6 are the records of Ballet West's European Tour. Ballet West performed in Europe in the summer of 1971. Beginning in Greece at the Athens Festival, July 10, they then toured Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and France, returning to Salt Lake City on September 6. The following records are concerned with the managerial, artistic, and commercial aspects of the tour's arrangement and execution. (A thesis has been written about this tour. Michael J. Rozow, "The General Formulation and Summarization of Ballet West U.S.A.'s 1971 European Tour," [master's thesis, University of Utah, 1972].) Box 21, folders 4-6 deal with the European tour in 1974.
