Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection contains a few portraits of Max Parkin, his wife, and images of Parkin's family, including George A. Parkin who died during World War II at the age of twenty.

However, the main body of the collection focuses on Mormon or L.D.S. history. This collection contains many images of L.D.S. Church leaders and significant figures, and photographs of major L.D.S. historical sites in New York, Ohio, Missouri, and Salt Lake. Parkin's Masters Thesis is titled, "Conflict at Kirtland." Many photographs in the collection relate to his research and later visits to Kirtland, Ohio. There are also three folders addressing the Strangite, Cutlerite and Hedreckite religions that broke away from the L.D.S. Church after the death of Joseph Smith.
