- Wayne Poulsen (1915-1995), California State ski champion in downhill, slalom, jumping, and cross-country, coach of the University of Nevada at Reno ski team
- Fritz Wiessner (1900-1988), famed mountain climbing pioneer and technical advisor to the 10th Mountain Division
