Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Utah Photograph Album photograph collection contains loose pages from a photograph album containing 284 5 x 7 or smaller black-and-white photographs. The photographs were taken by an an unidentified photographer and compiled by an unknown person. It contains black-and-white photographs of landscapes and outdoor activities like camping and fishing in and around Salt Lake City, Utah and Los Angeles, California. The locations of the photographs are well identified and include: Millcreek, City Creek Canyon, the Wasatch Range, Deer Creek, Provo Canyon, Park City, Mount Timpanogos, Fish Creek, and Bird Island in the Great Salt Lake. It also includes photographs of railroads, mills, and mining operations around Bingham and Sevier and photographs of automobiles. While the creator of the album is unknown, many of the photographs of people are identified and include: V.S. Matson, V.P. Mengle, C.A. Capen, and Frank C. Torkelson. The album also contains photographs of Southern California, particularly cities and outdoor areas near Los Angeles, including Santa Monica and Altadena. The photographs date from 1917-1919.
