Scope and Contents
Fullmer (b. 1923) joined the Navy in December 1940. After basic training he was transported to Hawaii on the oil tanker USS Tippecanoe before transferring to the West Virginia on the morning that Pearl Harbor was attacked. He describes the attack in detail and recalls his experiences on his next ship, the Chicago. He saw action in the Pacific around New Zealand, Australia, and the Coral Sea. He was serving on Midway Island when the war ended. He was discharged in 1946.
