From the Collection: Named for George A. Smith, a counselor to Brigham Young, St. George was founded in 1861 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a cotton mission. The photographs include panoramas of the town, street scenes, and views of the Temple and the Tabernacle.
