Scope and Contents

  1. Photograph number 458: Stereophonic Sound System used at Leopold Stokowski's Hollywood Bowl Concert-Electrical Research Products stereophonic horn system (at top) high frequency horns at bottom low frequency horn. This system used in demonstration in Hollywood Bowl is the largest sound reinforcing installation on record.

This photograph shows the Bowl from "set-up" rear of control station located underneath umbrella. Distance from control to orchestra approximately 1/16th of a mile. The view shows Stokowski conducting rehearsal. On the bridge above the shell is located the high and low frequency units. In foreground underneath umbrella at controls is Dr. Harvey Fletcher.

Photograph number 465: The final speaker of the session on Saturday morning was Dr. Harvey Fletcher, of the Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc., who talked on the Bell System's new developments for aiding the deaf and dumb.
