Scope and Contents

  1. Photograph number 1: Illustration of John Colter, explorer scout and trapper, who discovered Jackson Hole, Wyoming during the winter of 1806-1807.
  2. Photograph number 2: Alf and Sverre Engen visit an elk refuge while visiting Jackson Hole to put on a ski jumping exhibition in the mid 1930s.
  3. Photograph number 3: Sign bearing the name of the person who was responsible for funding the first town ski jumping hill. The town hill, renamed Snow King, was in 1933, called the 'Ruth Hannah Simms Ski Hill." In the foreground are two Jackson Hole locals, Steve Leek and Geneveve Ward, circa 1930s.
