Scope and Contents

  1. Photograph number 1: Deseret News article dated July 18, 1948 highlighting the planned Glacier Cup race on Mount Timpanogos and showing the large trophy and favorite ski personalities competing.
  2. Photograph number 2: The trophy shown started out to be the Timpanogos Glacier Cup, Open Invitational and was later changed to the Intermountain Ski Association (ISA) Alpine Combined Championship. The old trophy ended up in the permanent possession of Alan Engen; however, plans are to have it moved to the Alf Engen Ski Museum at the Utah Olympic Park for display purposes as one of Utah's original significant perpetual trophies (As of 2005, currently at the museum).
  3. Photograph number 3: Copy photo from newspaper clipping showing Alan Engen and Jim Gaddis holding the Intermountain Ski Association (ISA) Alpine Combined Championship trophy. Alan and Jim each won the title three times. Jim in 1957, 1958 and 1960; Alan in 1959, 1961, 1962. The ISA Alpine Combined Championship was originally the Glacier Cup.
