Scope and Contents

From the Collection: Richard Hart is involved in Indian affairs of the West. The photographs in this collection are the results of several projects involving the Duck Valley Reservation, inhabited by the Shoshone and Piute tribes. The project primarily documented the history of the tribe by having people bring their photographs to make copy prints of them. Mark Klett, Chris Felver, Caroline Hinkley, Anne Stockham, and Ellen Manchester were involved in the photographing of the images. Owners of the photographs were interviewed to identify the images. These interviews were taped and transcribed. Diane Haagman, a local photographer, took the photographs during time spent with the tribes. Some of the documentary images were taken by Hart. Boxes two and three are related addendum. Box two is concerned with photographs (copies of originals) of the Oral History of the Town of Hailey and with Zuni land claims. Box three deals further with Zuni affairs.
