From the Collection:
The Samuel Bateman diary excerpts (1886-1907) were kept while Bateman served as bodyguard to LDS Church president, John Taylor. Bateman records daily activities as Taylor is forced to go into hiding during the later years of his life for practicing polygamy. The diary also contains some letter excerpts from Bateman's wife, Marinda, as well as a short biography.
