Correspondence
Series
Scope and Contents
The correspondence in this series has been divided into three categories: alphabetical, chronological, and subject. These files are in original order and document Mr. Marriott's involvement in civic, religious, corporate, political, and family affairs from the 1940s to the 1980s. Church-related correspondence in boxes 52-53 documents Mr. Marriott's involvement with the Mormon Church from the 1950s through the 1980s. Detailed descriptions of correspondence have not been provided unless a subject of particular interest or controversy is discussed. There are other materials in addition to the letters, such as pamphlets, brochures, minutes, reports, speeches, programs and articles. Where possible, these subject file materials were removed and placed in corresponding parts of the collection. In several instances, however, correspondence and subject material was so interconnected it was not removed. Where additional materials are listed and no reference is made to correspondence, it should be assumed that correspondence is included in the folder. It should be noted that significant amounts of correspondence can also be found throughout the collection, not just in this section.
