Scope and Contents
The Marvin Alton Melville papers (1950-2001) contain scrapbooks, newspaper and magazine articles, correspondence, meeting minutes, and other documents concerning the United States Ski Association (USSA), particularly the Alpine Competition Committee, of which Melville was the chairman, and its dealings with different ski associations such as the International Ski Federation (FIS). The collection also contains material on the 1956, 1960, and 1964 Olympics.

Biographical Sketch
Marvin Melville (b. 1935) is well-known in the circles of skiing competition. He began skiing at the age of ten and raced competitively through junior high and high school. Melville skied for the University of Utah and was a member of the 1956 and 1960 Olympic ski teams. He coached at the University of Utah and assisted in coaching the 1964 Olympic ski team.
