Biographical Note

Barbara Yamada (b. 1946) was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Lina and Mike Yamada. She moved to Salt Lake City in the late 1960s, where she was a ski instructor at Park City West for a year before moving to the ski school at Alta. Yamada has been involved with the United States Ski Association (USSA) since the early 1970s, serving as the executive director of the Intermountain Division in 1973. She also played an integral role in the Utah Ski Archives and served as Chair of the collection's Advisory Board.
