Scope and Contents

The Elias Morris diary [photocopy] (1825-1869) consist of a missionary journal, which also includes an autobiographical sketch, written by Elias Morris. The autobiography includes information about Morris's birth, his early work, baptism, marriage, and family life. The journal gives a daily log of his experiences while on a four-year mission to Wales, beginning in 1865.

Biographical Sketch

Elias Morris was born on 30 June 1825 to John and Barbara Morris in Llanfair, Talhairne, Denbogshire, Wales. He joined the LDS Church in 1849 and later moved to Provo, Utah, with his wife, Marry Parry, whom he married in 1852. Morris was a builder, contractor, and masonry worker. He served a mission to Wales in the 1860s. Elias Morris died from a fall in 1898.
