The Robert Gardner papers (1857-1884) consist of Gardner's autobiography, diary, patriarchal blessing, genealogy, and a fragment from his brother's journal. One of the volumes in the collection is an incomplete copy of Gardner's autobiography. It is a typed copy with spelling and punctuation corrections.

Biographical Sketch

Robert Gardner was born in 1819 in Scotland. His family emigrated to Canada in 1822 and joined the LDS Church in 1845. They left Canada, joining the Latter Day Saint exodus to Salt Lake in 1847. Gardner and his family operated a saw mill at Millcreek, Utah, until 1861 when they were called to settle St. George. He participated in building the St. George LDS temple and served a handcart mission to Canada from 1857-1858. Robert Gardner died in 1906.
