The Arthur Pedersen Freber papers (1892-1960) consist of compostions, correspondence, autobiographical and biographical material, concert programs, and scrapbooks relating to Arthur Freber. Materials concerning Anton Pederson and Freber's wife, Virginia Smith Freber, are also in the collection.

Biographical Sketch

Arthur Pedersen Freber was born on 26 December 1887 to Mary Olive Larsen and Anton Pedersen. He was trained from childhood by his father as a violinist. He graduated from All Hallows College in Salt Lake City in 1904 and completed graduate work there two years later. He played in the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and for the Salt Lake Theatre Orchestra. Aside from his positions with local music groups, Freber taught music at All Hallows College and the University of Utah. His interest in color photography led to some writings and interest by Eastman Kodak in his experiments.
