Scope and Contents

The Marian Robertson Wilson papers (1920s-2013) consist of correspondence, article drafts, and a program relating to an article written by Marian Wilson about her father, musician and composer Leroy Robertson. The article was published in the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies and is titled: "Leroy Robertson and the oratorio from the Book of Mormon: reminiscences of a daughter." Also included are materials relating to Marian Wilson's studies of Coptic music, drafts of the book entitled: Leroy Robertson, music giant from the Rockies, teaching materials, and drafts of her dissertation entitled: Classical Arabic and colloquial Cairene: an historical linguistic analysis. The collection also contains guides to coptic music recordings, research concerning Ragheb Moftah. Correspondences with Jean Cocteau and Wilson's translations of some of his works are also part ofthe collection.

Abstract

The Marian Robertson Wilson papers (1920s-2013) consist of correspondence, article drafts, writings, research materials and other papers. The bulk of the materials relate to Wilson's writings about her father, Leroy J. Robertson, a world-renowned musician and composer, and her research into coptic studies. Wilson (b. 1926) is a musician, as well as a linguist and teacher. She has been recognized internationally as music editor of Coptic Encyclopedia and has lectured and taught at universities throughout the world.

Boxes 2-17 were donated by Marian Robertson Wilson in October 2002 (7.75 linear feet).

Boxes 18-23 were donated by Marian Robertson Wilson in November 2002 (3 linear feet).

Box 24 was donated by Marian Robertson Wilson in May 2006 (0.5 linear feet).

Box 25-26 were donated by Marian Robertson Wilson in September 2009 (0.75 linear feet).

Box 27, folder 7 was donated by Marian Robertson Wilson in 2018.
