Biographical Sketch

Mary Jeanette "Jennie" Hartley Ware was born on 2 January 1867 in Lancashire, England, the daughter of Richard and Mary Dayton Hartley. The family emigrated to the United States in 1870, and settled in Troy, Kansas, prior to moving to Laramie, Wyoming, where "Jennie" attended high school. She married Walter Ellsworth Ware in 1890. The couple moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Walter E. Ware became a noted architect. Their daughter, Florence E. Ware, was born in Salt Lake City in 1891. Jennie was a member of the Ladies Literary Club from 1913 to 1951. She was also a member of the Reviewers Club and active in artistic and civic affairs.
