The Rachel Seamons Hancey autobiography (circa 1900) describes her life in England and travel to Cache Valley, Utah. In the account, Hancey describes her class-conscious childhood in the village of All Saints, Suffolk County, England from 1834 to 1843. She describes being "hired out" as a housemaid, kitchen girl, cobbler's apprentice, etc. She also describes the religious fervor in England leading her to join the LDS Church. Her marriage and move to Utah are also documented.

Biographical Sketch

Rachel Seamons Hancey (1834-1911) grew up in Suffolk County, England. She joined the LDS Church, married James Hancey, and moved to Cache Valley, Utah, in 1860.
