The Paine brothers mining collection (circa 1850) consists of a sketch map of the mining claims of the Paine brothers in Nevada County, California, and a photocopy of a handwritten narrative, "In The Days Of Old And The Days Of Gold." The narrative, possibly written by Milton Paine, is a humorous short story set in the hydraulic gold mining days of California and contains a description of gold rush mining camp life.
