Scope and Contents
The Sally Smith letter (1820) was written by Sally Smith to her sister Eliza Barrett. The letter is dated 12 August 1820. The letter describes the recent birth of a son, the crop situation, and an upsurge of attendence at the village church. Of note is a phrase, reminiscent of Shakespeare, that is similiar to a passage in 2 Nephi in the Book of Mormon.

Sally Smith in 1820 was a citizen of Gorham, Ontario County in the state of New York. Her sister, Eliza, lived in Dresden, Maine.
