Scope and Contents
The Helen O'Connell papers (1940s-1970s) consist mainly of sheet music used by Helen O'Connell during her singing career. The music is arranged alphabetically by song name and generally dates from the 1940s to the 1970s. Because the bulk of it is penned by hand, publication dates are very few. Some correspondence, programs, announcements, news clippings, and other materials are also included in the collection.

Biographical Note
Helen O'Connell (1920-1993), born in Ohio, was a popular singer from the 1930s up until her death from cancer. She sang with various bands and individuals such as Jimmy Richards' nine-piece orchestra, Larry Funk and his Band of a Thousand Melodies, Jimmy Dorsey, and Bob Eberly. She also toured with Kay Starr, Rosemary Clooney, and Rose Marie as Four Girls Four.
