Biographical Sketch

Louis Cruz Torres was born on 25 April 1923, shortly after his parents entered this country from Guadalajara, Mexico. The family worked in the fields in Texas, California, and Kansas, where Louis got his early schooling. He married Dora Alvidrez at nineteen because he was expecting to go into the military, and was drafted in February 1943. He entered the Army Air Corps and was stationed in England.
