The photograph collection of LeGrand Van Uitert consists of personal portraits and various awards banquets. The collection also contains group photographs of unidentified men and a variety of chemical experiments and machinery. Biographical / Historical

LeGrand G. Van Uitert was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1922. He earned a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University and worked as a chemist and materials scientist employed in the Basic Research Division of Bell Labs. He co-invented the first continuous beam optical MASER, now known as a laser.
