Scope and Contents
The Allan Anton Ekdale papers (1971-2003) consist primarily of office correspondence to and from Ekdale. The correspondence consists of letters, faxes, postcards, memorandums, and e-mails from organizations, colleagues, students, and professionals in the field of paleontology. The letters concern student recommendations, manuscript reviews, professional development, evaluations, research, and department operations. The papers also include printed ephemera, notes, reviews, and forms.

Biographical / Historical
Allan Anton Ekdale was born in 1946. Ekdale earned his Ph.D. from Rice University in 1973. He married Susan Faust Rostberg in St. Louis, Missouri on July 5, 1969. He was a professor, researcher, and the chair at the University of Utah, Department of Geology and Geophysics. Ekdale was the author of Ichnology: the use of trace fossils in sedimentology and stratigraphy.
