Scope and Contents
This collection details the life of John Hamilton Morgan including his participation in the Civil War and service as the L.D.S. Mission President of the Southern States mission. The collection also details a great deal of the history of the Morgan family in early Utah and Colorado. The first eight folders of the collection consist of identified portraits of the Morgan family, acquaintances, and converts to the Mormon Church. Folder nine includes photographs of the 123rd Regiment flag, soldiers and other images relating to the Civil War. Folders ten and eleven contain photographs of L.D.S. missionaries, groups, and other images relating to the Southern States mission, of which John Morgan was the President. The remaining folders contain a variety of photographs of buildings in Manassa and Pueblo, Colorado. The collection consists of mostly copy prints, though there are a few originals from the late 19th century.
