George Barfoot photograph collection
Collection
Identifier: P0819
Scope and Contents
Dr. George R. Barfoot was a prominent obstetrician in Phoenix, Arizona; an amateur geologist; and an avid outdoorsman. The bulk of slides included in this collection were taken on a Phoenix YMCA trip in Glen Canyon during mid-August of 1952, led by Dr. Barfoot. The trip started at Hite and continued down the river to Lee's Ferry. The slides have been organized according to Dr. Barfoot's diary, and all descriptions in this register were written on each individual slide by Dr. Barfoot. The handwritten daily diary of the trip was transcribed by Dr. Barfoot's secretary into the typewritten account. A photo copy of the diary is located in folder 5 of this collection, along with a letter explaining the origins of this collection. Click here to access the digitized images.
