Scope and Contents
The Newell Beeman collection contains images of early religious buildings, focusing primarily on Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapels. The 195 black and white photographs are found in three photograph albums complied by the photographer Newell Beeman. Photograph album one contains images of early Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapels. Photograph album two contains images of early adobe houses found in the Salt Lake Valley, and Photograph album three contains images of religious buildings, cathedrals and chapels belonging to various religious sects and denominations.
To avoid damaging the fragile original prints, the photographs were left in the original albums. Original image order was retained and the highly detailed descriptions were taken directly from the photograph albums. Descriptions for the few images that were not identified are noted as follows: [ ___ ].
